Spag
n Drags new lease of life!

Its
been almost 3 years since Spag n Drag first graced the stage at
Templebar Precinct in Collingwood, quite a feat when you consider that
many drag show don't even last 3 months!
The
Wednesday night institution, which returned this week still offering a
$10 Spaghetti and Drag Show package, has over the years seen many of its
cast come and go, but until the end of last year, popular Melbourne Drag
Queen Amanda Monroe had always been the constant.
But
with big plans for touring in 2008, Amanda and the Drags Aloud crew have
waved goodbye to Templebar at the end of 2007, handing the reins over to
seasoned performer Slash Darling. ... and Slash has big plans for
the night.
Slash,
the popular host of Drag Bingo at Candy
Bar in Prahran each Monday night knows how to entertain, and her
first night at Spag n Drag was no exception. Her opening night
show saw the venue packed to the rafters, with interest in the night has
been high!
With
more of a focus on Comedy, Spag n Drag looks set to return to its roots
as the biggest event on Smith Street. Adding Slash's mix of drag
queens and party games ('Spit the Dummy', Celebrity Head and the odd
game of 'Bingo'), along with weekly special guests (such as Girl DJ,
Vicky Vegas), its almost a certainty that the night will just keep
getting better.
As
well as a refreshed Spag n Drag, Templebar is offering some of the best entertainment
in town. Add to the mix The
Jack and Jill Drag Show (Jackie Stevens and Jillette Jones), Faulty
Towers The Dining Experience (Interactive Theatre), and regular Super
Saturday shows, and its easy to see why Templebar is fast
becoming the home of the Dinner and Show package.
But
its not just the shows that draw in the masses to Templebar... unlike
many Theatre restaurants who focus solely on the entertainment,
Templebar put much emphasis on its menu too. While the Spaghetti
is a fabulous deal, you can also wine and dine from the restaurants a la
carte menu and comprehensive wine list!
